Sustainable Replacement
For Conventional Plastics

This project focuses on experimenting with different materials to create eco-friendly disposable food cups to replace plastic ones. As a young person and a designer in an era of resource scarcity, I view sustainability as a crucial aspect of products.

Experimenting Process

I experimented with creating bioplastic using starch, apple vinegar, water, and glycerin. Initially, I faced challenges with timing; my first attempt resulted in the material not solidifying enough, causing it to fall apart when I removed it from the mold. Subsequent trials involved waiting at least 45 minutes before removing the shapes from the molds. I also switched to using agar and tested various ratios.

Changing Base Material

In this one, you can see that the material is much more liquid compared to the previous one. This time, I replaced starch and vinegar with agar agar and, added some dry plants for aesthetics look.
